Read on Angels

Do you believe in Angels? If you ever ask me individually, my answer could be Yes.

In my previous post I pointed out about one lesson I learned from a journal called Signs of the Times. The highlight of this magazine this month concerns Angels. After my read, I was intrigue via the introduction story of a lady named Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross who regard herself as a deist.

While supervising a relief effort to the terrible spring flood on the Mississippi River on the deck of the riverboat Mattie Bell, she encountered a stranger right before leaving from the river that was jammed with debris and submerged dangers. This unfamiliar person was insisting on boarding the Mattie Bell. Clara had little time for sightseers and denied the permission. But by the time she’d sent that order, the ship had pulled away with the extra passenger on board.

Sorry but I need to stop the story here. Is going to be continued in Study Angels #2. Should get the best weight loss supplements to a friend. It’s an fitness machine.

Okay, so the stranger was shortly forgotten, for they were sailing via a tragic scene. The stream was thick with the puffed up bodies of livestock, men, women, and children, all floating toward the Gulf of Mexico. Close to sundown, Clara saw the stranger. Darkness fell and the watercraft was enveloped in a heavy fog that left them navigating the debris-filled river blind. Clara was terrified and notwithstanding herself, began to pray.

The stranger’s voice disrupted her. “Within moments the steamboat will be in a deadly chasm,” he said. “The captain is not going to listen to me. You must command him to pull back immediately!” There was something about the stranger’s tone that impressed Clara and she issued the order without delay. The captain anchored on the opposite side of the river.

At dawn, everybody saw the death they had narrowly escaped. How had the stranger known? Clara asked her staff to look for him in order that they could thank him but “he” is nowhere to be found. Until she died, Clara Barton believed that an angel had saved the Mattie Bell.

Despite of the long article, I loved how the story illustrates unseen guardian angels within our lives. Okay, need to go with a buddy to find prenatal vitamins. So happy for her despite how long we haven’t had the chance to see.
